Opening Procedures
Membership in Georgia's Own is open to anyone employed by one of our 320 sponsor
companies. Check the list to see if you are eligible.
Residents of Cobb, Chatham, Cherokee,
DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett County are now eligible for Credit
Union membership.
Family members of a GOCU Member -
anyone related to you by blood, marriage or adoption - are also
eligible to join Georgia's Own.
Open your account with as little as $5.
You can open your account with an initial $5 deposit. This $5 represents your "share" in
the Credit Union and will remain on deposit as long as you are a member. If you
are opening a checking account, we suggest you deposit an additional amount to
cover your first order of checks.
Opening an Account Identification Requirements
The USA PATRIOT Act requires that all financial institutions obtain, verify,
and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.
When you open an account, we will ask for the following:
• Name
• Address
• Date of Birth
• Driver's license or other identifying documents
Verification of your identifying information will also include checking your
credit report.
Applying for membership or opening an additional account
is easy.
• Call (404) 874-1166 or (800) 533-2062, outside of the Atlanta area,
press option 7 and speak with a Member Services representative today.
• Print out and complete the application and bring to a Georgia's
Own branch.
• Fax the completed application to (404) 575-1818.

Upon sending this information, you are authorizing the Credit Union to check
your account (if you presently have an account open), verify employment information,
and obtain a credit report from a credit reporting agency, to approve you for
the accounts and services requested. If you are eligible for membership through
a family member, you authorize the Credit Union to verify your membership with
your qualifying member. |
